An Important Book about Helping Anyone in Nursing Homes
By Amazon Customer
Garbeding is a Registered Nurse, certified in restorative nursing, who works as a nurse educator in an Alzheimer's and dementias facility. She writes about how to help patients receive dignified care by busy staff members.
Families can help personnel know who the patient is and has been in numerous interesting ways. For example, the author suggests that families write brief biographical notes to stick up by the patient's doorway and change them often. And have pictures of the patient's life posted where staff can easily see them.
Workers in a care facility may unknowingly treat someone as ordinary and somewhat ignore their humanity. By helping staff members know about a patient's accomplishments and interests, the staff can interact more meaningfully with that person.
This book is well-written and easy to read, plus contains much helpful information.
