Truly A MUST Read

I have to say that this book truly has allowed me to look at ALL Ministry different....Once you get what the author is saying you will have to take a second look at WHY you are in ministry and HOW you approach ministry.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book for ALL individuals who are thinking about & all that are in ministry. Some might say, OOhhh this is just for Music Ministry, you are wrong. The tools that you find in this book can be use by ALL ministries.

A Must Read

This book is a must read for everyone. It was such a page turner that I was almost late for work several times while reading it. I just couldn't put it down. I had to read from it every opportunity I got. From the benchwarmer to the preacher, this book is for you! You will see Jesus through New Lenses. Then you will be eager to share the new lenses with everyone you meet. Get the book.

If he could be compared to anyone in the Bible, Jared would be most like David. David was very humble, yet passionate about God, and his passion drove him to develop a deep, intimate relationship with his Father. No less can be said of Jared, for he truly is a man after God's own heart. His glowing characteristics of humility, faithfulness and passion testify of his intimacy with God and how he sees him as dad, lover and friend. He compels others to abolish superficial relationships with the Father and develop a genuine longing and thirst for Him. His desire is for it to be said of all of us by God, "You are a man/woman after my own heart." Jared's passion to see others move from a mere knowledge of God to developing radical intimate relationships with Him that transcend beyond what the human eye can see has compelled him to write New Lenses: How I Met Jesus on MTV. While being drawn by the glamour of the world yet desiring a relationship with Christ, he soon realized that he didn't have to look very far to find what he was searching for, and neither do you. Jared's wit, intelligence and love for God have intertwined and birthed this phenomenal book that is a must read.
As Jared experienced, many of us battle with how to build a relationship God. Through New Lenses, he shows us that God is not out of reach. There are many principles we can learn through artists we listen to everyday. Their lives, achievements and experiences offer examples of just how evident God is in everything around us. Each principle presented in the book speaks to everyday situations we face such as doubt and fear. As someone who constantly doubted the path of my life, Jared illustrated for me through Machel Montano that "the intent of those who mock and jeer is simply to discourage us, make us doubt our ability to accomplish our goal, and cause us to question whether we're doing the right thing. Our ability to overcome this obstacle is directly tied to our belief that we are being led by God and that we are following His will and not our own. When we believe in our task and, more importantly, when our task has God's support and input, ridicule has little or no effect."
Admittedly, when I first heard of New Lenses I was very skeptical. I questioned how I could possibly learn anything about Jesus from R&B and hip-hop. How could rappers teach me about God? How could Jesus be found on MTV? These unanswered questions fostered a curiosity that I found would only be satisfied the moment I turned the final page. New Lenses took me on a journey no other book has ever taken me on. I went from believing that there is only one way to find God to seeing that "He uses odd methods to display power that can only be from God. When God shows his presence in anything, as the Mary J. Blige Principle teaches, he draws others to himself....His disregard for the rules that govern our limited thinking and ability demonstrates and honors his holiness."
Whether you are a skeptic like me, someone searching for more, or if you are just plain curious, New Lenses is for you. I must warn you, though; there is nothing traditional about this book. Get ready for a transformation in how you see things. Get ready to experience God like never before. Once you close this book you will never be able to look at the world the same again.
